Richard P. Gerber has exclusively dedicated his practice to civil litigation since 1974. Mr. Gerber is an AV rated attorney who specializes in complex business, employment, intellectual property, unfair competition, insurance, securities, probate, trust, municipality, construction, landlord and tenant, personal injury and appellate matters.

Mr. Gerber is particularly skilled in managing sophisticated and complex cases involving large numbers of documents and utilizing expert witnesses. Some of Mr. Gerber's accomplishments include:

  • Serving as deputy general counsel with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), Mr. Gerber was one of the lead trial attorneys on Arizona v. California, original jurisdiction case No. 8 in the United States Supreme Court. MWD, along with a number of western states, successfully restrained the water rights claims of five lower Colorado River Indian tribes to additional allocation of scarce Colorado River water.
  • Representing a number of small to medium sized businesses, Mr. Gerber's clients have been successful in expeditiously defeating unfair competition claims, including misappropriation of trade secrets.
  • Negotiating on behalf of insured, Mr. Gerber's clients have secured substantial settlements with insurance companies without the need to file suit.

Mr. Gerber is counsel of record on numerous published appellate court decisions and is a published author and lecturer.
